7a.m.

Apparently we got out of the NICU just in the nick of time last night...she had an episode about 15 minutes after we left. :(  She had another during the night when they changed her from the CPAP mask to the prongs...she just doesn't do as well on the prongs, but she needs to wear them because it gives the bridge of her little nose a rest from the pressure of the full mask.  She gained 20 grams but was still in the 2lb 11oz range...not much more to bump up to the next ounce.  Come on sweet pea, you gotta grow!

We keep getting the same question over and over..."So, any idea when she's going to get to go home?"  The concise answer is this: nope.  The loquacious answer is this: at first, one doctor said, "we like to keep them until their due date."  That would mean February 6th.  Another doctor later said, "we like to send them home when they would've been 36 weeks gestation."  That would be the second week in January.  One of the nurses told us, "I think she'll probably go home 2 weeks before her due date."  That would be the fourth week in January.  So, really, we haven't got a clue (about much of anything, actually, not just this subject).  She doesn't have to be a specific weight, but she does have to go a certain amount of time without having an episode before they'll let her go (what that amount of time is I wasn't told).  They'll start trying to bottle feed her about 34 weeks, so she has to learn to do that before coming home too.  *sigh*  Poor Aubrey.  So much to learn in such a short amount of time AND having to learn it way too early to boot.  I wish I could help her figure it all out.

9p.m.

I spent several hours with Feisty Pants this afternoon.  We got to kangaroo for a REALLY long time which made for a REALLY happy mama and a REALLY sleepy Aubrey.  She slept so good on me--I love it.  She got the hiccups again, poor baby--she squeaks like a little frog.  I wish I could have felt her get the hiccups while she was still in my belly; she probably did, she just wasn't big enough for me to really feel them.  Adam didn't make it off of work in time to see her by 6:30, so we jetted back down when they reopened at 8 so he could sneak a peak at her pretty face.  She had a good day--the nurse said Aubrey tried to have an episode once, but she managed to get things under control.  They upped her feedings by a little bit, so hopefully that will get her started gaining some more weight.

She had one of her leads in her hand when I got there today...thankfully she didn't pull it loose!

Later she got one of the other leads in between her toes...she's been known to snatch them out that way too!
