11a.m.

Sorry for the late update, fan club!  Aubrey had a good night.  The nurse said she found a little formula in her mouth a couple of times where she had burped it up, but she didn't have any problems because of it--no drops in heart rate or oxygen.  She took the bottle last night like a champ.  When we got there this morning the nurse was doing her vital signs and changing her diaper.  She managed to fill up 3 diapers just during the few minutes when the nurse was trying to change it. :)  (She's going to kill me when she's 13 and realizes that all this stuff about her pooping when she was a baby is on the internet and lots of people read it.)  She took the bottle from me this morning well.  She was falling asleep in the middle of it, but she sucked it down pretty quickly for it to be so thick.  I think it tired her out because she went straight to sleep afterwards and didn't even realize that her tube feeding didn't start on time.

Both the nurse and the surgeon who came by think that the hemangioma on her nose looks better already, just from the couple of days of topical treatment it's had.  I guess it's a little lighter in color and not as shiny as it was, so we'll see what happens.

Just got home from my third trip to the hospital today.  It's never enough time.  Ever.  No matter how many trips I make, no matter how long I get to hold her and stare at her.  Not enough.  I can't just walk into her room and pick her up--it's a 25 minute drive and a walk and an elevator ride and a 3 minute hand washing/gowning procedure and then I can pick her up.  It's getting old.  Who am I kidding--it got old a long time ago.  My brother met me there tonight so he could see Aubrey, and it bothered him that she had to stay in that bassinet all day and night other than when we are there to hold her.  Yep, bothers me too.  If I could stay there all hours and hold her, I would.

milk-faced girl after a bottle.
She had a good day.  No problems this afternoon, and she did pretty well taking her bottle tonight.  She got too much in at once a couple of times and that super-sensitive gag reflex of hers went off.  She handled it well though, and never dropped her heart rate or sats.
