6a.m.

Another fabulously boring night for Aubrey.  Just sleeping and growing.  Quite frankly, I could get used to boring.  I think she should have a calmer day today as far as tests go...she needs a day off. ;)

3p.m.

Well, today WAS calmer as far as tests go, but a fruit basket turnover happened and we got moved out of our little private room and into the big room with all the other babies.  That meant moving out and sitting in the middle of the floor for almost 2 hours while they moved other babies and cleaned our new spot.  Thankfully we are tucked in a corner and next to the twins that we know from our first hospital home (the little girl was moved last week, the little boy today).  Aubrey had trouble falling asleep--maybe just the amount of noise was so different from her room where we could close the door.

The nurse practitioner came to talk to me about the ENT doctor wanting to do a procedure on Aubrey tomorrow.  They'll be checking her entire airway with 3 different scopes to make sure it's all working correctly.  The neonatologist wants to make sure things are ok there before we continue with bottle feeding.  If something is wrong in her airway it could cause milk to go into her lungs, and we certainly don't want that.  So, I had to give consent for them to take her to the OR tomorrow and sedate her and look down her throat.  And then I cried.  I know she has to be tired of being poked and prodded--I sure am tired of watching it happen to her.  Yes, this procedure needs to be done so we can take the next step forward, but any time they had to put my baby under anesthesia I'm a nervous wreck.   Ugh.  Tomorrow will be no fun.

10p.m.

She did fine this afternoon and evening, even spitting up a tiny bit but keeping her sats and heart rate up.  They turned her oxygen off this morning, and she has done fine all day with nothing extra. Adam didn't make it to the NICU from work by 7pm when they close, so we went back after 8.  We got to see her get weighed and get a bath.  She does not approve of the bath...but she looks really cute all soaped up. :) We noticed some little red rashy spots on her head after her bath--pretty sure they are from the stuff used to stick the EEG probes to her head yesterday.  They are on all the areas where the probes were on her sensitive skin.  Hopefully they'll clear up quickly.

The procedure is supposed to be at 1p.m. tomorrow...they said to call in the morning to make sure it hadn't been moved.  Praying she does ok and that I'm not a basket case watching her go into the OR.  The procedure itself only takes about 5-10 minutes, so I hope it can handle it for that long...
