Sweet girl had a good night after the trauma of getting her tube put back in last evening. ;) She took her whole bottle when the nurse fed her, so that's good. She spit up a little bit once, but the nurse said it was when she was getting her bath and she was upset. Hopefully today we'll find out what time her surgery is tomorrow. Adam and I are supposed to go to the discharge class tomorrow too--baby care, infant CPR, all that stuff you are supposed to know before you take the baby home. So, we'll see if class time and surgery time work around each other.

getting the hang of the bottle |
1p.m.
Aubrey's surgery time for tomorrow is 11a.m...unless they call and change it on us at the last minute like they did before. I asked today if she would ever go back on breast milk and was told "no" by the nurse practitioner and the doctor. They said that it usually takes a while for them to grow out of the reflux, so she'll need the thicker formula to help with that (there's no way to thicken breast milk consistently). Plus the formula is higher calorie than breast milk, and she needs those extra calories. It makes me so sad that I'll never get to nurse her; we already missed so many of the mama/baby bonding things that happen with normal births, and I was hoping to be able to feed her myself in the future. I guess, though, that she got my milk when she needed it the most. Looks like I'll be donating a deep freezer-full of milk to the milk bank so other babies can have it.

free from the swaddle!! |
After watching the nurse re insert the feeding tube back into her nose last night, I believe that if she pulls it out after we get her home that I will call one of the University nurses that gave us their phone number and buy their lunch in exchange for inserting the tube while I go into another room. That was rough.
She is having good day today. We got to see her a while and I got to read a while.
We will be having our day before the day before she goes home party either Friday or Saturday night at Panera bread. It depends on how she does for the eye surgery and what night we stay at MCG. Stay tuned for more details....
