I called the nighttime nurse and she said that Aubrey had 3 or 4 episodes during the night but self recovered from one of them and the others required only a small amount of intervention. She had no reflux during the night and still weights 4 lbs 12 ounces.
I talked to the doctor yesterday. He said that she is going to have another brain scan to follow up with the previous one. No one ever said she is having seizures but the brainwave they saw indicated that there might be. In other words, on a test that is so premature they have no confidence in, the brainwave was the same as growth as seizures. Well now that she has matured a little more they have some confidence in the brain scan results albeit it low and so they want to do it again. They also are doing a scan of her ductus valve to ensure that it's closed. It closed after birth like it was supposed to but he wants to make sure and be thorough.
The retinopathy that developed in her eyes is a result of free radicals in oxygen. These radicals cause scaring in the eyes that they categorize into 5 stages. The first two stages require no intervention but still need to be watched. The other stages require medication and possibly surgery. Most premies outgrow the lower stages in the first couple of years naturally. So she will have another follow up next week to ensure the scaring isn't worse.
They are still feeding her nj, meaning through the nose into the intestine. For the next few days, probably 7 to 10 she will continue these feedings. They are the least stressful for her right now. Next week she will have the milk dumped into her tummy. By then, she will be at about 37 weeks which is really a term baby and her tummy will have matured enough to understand what to do with milk in the tummy. Her intestine has it figured out, next her tummy will have to figure it out. So next week will be rough I am sure. If she takes the milk, then on to the next step of bottles and then once she tolerates that then home. If she rejects the milk then on to other intervention steps to include surgery. Argh.
They are putting the antacid in nj again. The nurse had been giving it orally but dr said it is just as good nj as oral and less stressful nj.
Keli is feeling better. She is going to work and I am too. We will see if we can't take grandparent holding pics the next few days.
Now if the insurance company would just pay the bills instead of denying them. Yes I will appeal thank you.

I feel so much better! I got to see the baby! Yay! :) Little miss had a pretty good day. I held her for a really long time and we snuggled and talked and she took a good long nap. Right as I got up to put her back in her bed, I saw her gag and knew it was coming. Her sats dropped to the 20s and her heart rate dropped but I don't think it made it below 80. The nurse didn't have to bag her and she eventually came around and held herself together until we left. She had a heart scan and brain scan today, but we won't know the results for another day or two. The nurse left me a bag of her clothes to take home--they're preemie size and too small. :)
