7a.m.

Little miss had another good night--no episodes.  Thank you, Lord, and let's keep it up!  She gained an ounce to go up to 5lb 5oz.

Now that there's a light at the end of the tunnel (as in we shouldn't be in the hospital ANOTHER 12 weeks), I've been given some new things to worry about: Aubrey's brain development and any delays she might have.  The doctor mentioned it yesterday in regards to her not crying.  I know lots of babies born as early as she was tend to be behind in their development; they don't hit the milestones (sitting, standing, talking, walking) at the same age a "normal" baby would.  They usually catch up by the time they are 2 or 3 years old.  This seems minor as compared to the things we've already had to worry about (i.e., will she survive), but delayed development is something that could follow her the rest of her life.  I already feel horrible enough about her rough start in life; I don't want her to have a rough time growing up too.  Ugh.  Ok.  I'll just have to push this one aside for now seeing as I still have NICU stuff to worry about, like her processing food in her stomach.  A different worry for a different day.  I know, I'm not supposed to worry at all, I'm supposed to let God handle it.   I'll try.  It's tough.

I think she has my laid back temperament.
Very few things bother me.

Adam

6p.m.

Another good day.  We snuggled and chatted for a while, until we got kicked out of our room because of a new baby coming in.  We had to wait about an hour and a half to get back in.  Adam held her for a while then, and she had a couple of bad gags--she managed them pretty well.  Her sats dropped into the 50s after one of them, but she got it under control and came back up.  The doctor stopped by but said he didn't really have anything new to tell us.  Just keep hanging out for a few days more.  If she keeps up like she is, we don't mind the hanging out so much.

My favorite doctor stopped by to say hi while I was holding Aubrey.  He hasn't been the one on call lately, so he hadn't seen her in a couple of weeks.  He said, "she looks so good!"  I told him that she looked good on the outside, we just had to get the inside right.  He said, "she's kind of like a cake in the oven that looks all done on the outside, but then when you stick a toothpick in the middle it comes out gooey."  Yep, she's just like that. :)
